review – aix cuisine du terroir

Fresh Basil linguini topped with chicken breast and cream of morel mushrooms

I know I am a little behind schedule with this post. A couple of months ago, back in September (my my time flies), a group of Montreal food bloggers got together for brunch. This is my incredibly late post, reviewing the resto and about the event.

When we first arrived we were set up on the terrace. While nice, we got the sun full on and it was way too hot. The staff was kind enough to move us indoors where it was much cooler. It took awhile for us to actually get to order. I am not sure if that was because we were a big group and they got spooked or if it was because we were the only group that was inside. Either way, it took a bit of time, but we eventually got to order.

The good thing about this long brunch was the opportunity to actually speak to the different bloggers. It was very interesting getting to know one another and to find out a little more about the person behind the blog. The atmosphere of the place was nice, it was airy, bright and very chill. Plus they kept us occupied with little brioches and croissants, so I can’t complain too much.

When the food finally arrived, it was quite comical to see all the cameras suddenly being whipped out and the passing of the cameras back and forth to make sure we all got a good shot of all the food.

I ordered the Fresh Basil linguini topped with chicken breast and cream of morel mushrooms. I admit myself a tad underwhelmed by it, while the cream of morel mushrooms was tasty and the pasta was cooked properly, the chicken breast itself was dry and lacked seasoning. I rather regretted not ordering the Kobe beef burger or the Omelette Place d’Armes, which is an omelette with Riopelle cheese and asparagus like some of the other bloggers.

The experience in itself was nice and some of us got together a month later for Korean fare at a resto called Atti. That review will be up once I find the wire that connects to my phone so I can get the pictures off it.

Would I ever go back to Aix Cuisine du Terroir? Sure, just not sure I would order their chicken again. Perhaps I will try it for dinner instead of brunch.

Thanks for this review. I’ve been wanting to get to Aix Cuisine de Terroir. (I guess I mist stay on top of food blogger meet-ups, huh.) It’s my undestanding that the chef has an affinity for quality Quebec products and seasonal products. Any evidence of that on the menu or in conversation with the waiters?

@Amanda S. – There is definitely evidence of Quebec products in the menus. We never really got to speak to any waiters really considering they were mostly on the terrace that we vacated due to the sun.

These pictures are so funny, it is like the time when we were at Atti and everyone of us was taking pictures of everyone food. Good memory and I’m pretty sure we will see more for future meet-ups.

@Victor – Yeah, if that does not tip the wait staff off the fact that they are about to get hit by reviews, I dunno what will. I look forward to our next meetup.
